'Visual Language' benefits all young children and adults with hearing disabilities

The language of the Deaf is a beautiful language because it is a visual language using movement gestures and actions. The memory connects very easily and it is a language once learnt, is remembered. It stays in the memory. It might have to be refreshed if not used but it is never forgotten. It is beneficial for all Deaf People, especially vulnerable Deaf adults and it is particularly valuable for supporting young Deaf children.

About British Deaf Foundation

The founder is a former head teacher of a pre-school and also as a ‘special needs’ teacher for children with learning difficulties, systems like Makaton, have had a very significant and essential place in the lives of these children.

As a communication speech and language educational specialist, she has had experience throughout her professional life, working with a range of children, young people and adults who experienced speech, language and reading difficulties.

By improving and developing a new area of 'visual language' skills which incorporates someone who is Deaf, this will improve the quality of their reading and understanding of language and communication.
